She served on the Board of the Hebrew Academy Auxiliary, was a member of the Menorah Medical Center Auxiliary and served as a volunteer at the hospital. Mrs.
Cohn was a member of the Jewish Geriatric and Convalescent Center, National Council of Jewish Women, B'nai Brith Women and the Technion Society. She was honored by the Theodore Herzl Hadas ah and the Jewish Chronicle as a Woman of Valor. She was on the Board of Trustees for Ileitis and Colitis Foundations. Mrs. Cohn was preceded in death by her husband, William Cohn and brother, David and Erwin Rapoport.

Newcomer's Son's Blue Springs Chapel, NANETTE MURPHY FINUCANE Nanette Murphy Finucane, 78, passed away Tuesday, February 26, 2002, at St. Joseph's Health Center, Kansas City, MO. Nan was born October 2, 1923, in Kansas City, MO, to John Wall Murphy and Cecelia McCaffrey. Murphy. Nan's parents and siblings, John, Owen and Jim Murphy and T.
Jane Schockey and Eileen "Bebe" Murphy, all preceded her in death. Nan attended Bryant and Visitation grade schools and St. Teresa's High School. She then attended St. Teresa's college, where she was a member of the first accredited four-year graduating class in 1944.
From 1944 to 1948, Nan was a hostess for Trans World Airlines. During this time she lived in Wilmington, DE, New York City, and in Tel Aviv, Israel. On August 14, 1948, Nan married J. Bernard Finucane. They lived in Kansas City, MO, where they began to raise their family.
In September 1962, the family moved to Topeka, KS, where she was active in numerous religious and social activities. Nan was an avid golfer at Shawnee Country Club. For many years, she taught religious education classes for the CCD program at Most Pure Heart of Mary parish. In August 1978, Nan helped Bernard start Finucane Enterprises a medical supply distribution company. In May 1979, they moved back to the Kansas City area (Leawood), where she continued her involvement with the business until 1991.
During the 1990s, Nan served as president of the TWA Clipped Wings. Nan enjoyed traveling with her husband, family and friends. In 1998, the entire family traveled to Ireland, where Nan and Bernard celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. It was a trip of a lifetime. Nana will be missed greatly by her family and her huge circle of friends.
Nan is survived by her husband, Bernard, and children, Dennis Finucane and his wife, Debbie, of Leawood, KS; M. Margaret was one of five children born to Margaret Salisbury and William Allan Tudor at the Salisbury home on Salisbury Road, Independence. The Salisbury home burned to the ground 30 years ago and was not rebuilt.
Margaret's brothers and sisters, Katherine, Walter, Laura and Albert Tudor, all preceded her in death. Margaret enjoyed the company of Uncle Spencer and Aunts Laura, Agnes, Ruth and Mary Salisbury throughout her childMargaret attended the old Staple School, now Wachter School, on Salisbury Road through the fifth grade. Each school day, Margaret walked through the pasture to Spring Branch School and completed her sophom*ore year at Pleasant Hill. During her junior year at William Chrisman, she walked four miles every day to school and began her senior year, but dropped out of school due to lack of money and clothes. Margaret worked at the private residence at the Teacher College, Warrensburg, MO.
Her father, William Allan Tudor, contracted tubercylosis and spent his final days in Joplin, MO. It was there that William met and married Frances Phillips and they had a daughter, Mary Lou Tudor, Margaret's half sister. Margaret attended Bill Erickson Comptometer School. When she was 19, she met her future husband, Edward Garrett Gillespie. Margaret visited Belen, NM, with her sister, Laura Tudor, where she and Laura were employed as Fred Harvey Girls.
Margaret returned to Independence to become the Edward's bride on June 13, 1937. Their first daughter, Judith Diane, was born at the Conley Clinic on May 14, 1939. Margaret lived in California for six months with her sister, Laura a Tudor Shivel, and Josephine Dahzier Way when Judith was an infant. She returned to Independence and she and Ed bought their first home on Overton. She and Ed moved from Overton to Perry Grandview or flowers in Fairway.

They inherited a French- country home on Main Street from her aunt Mary Bostian, and moved to that residence in 1988 and lived there until moving to their current residence in Independence. Her second daughter, Joyce, was also born at the Conley Clinic. Third and fourth daughters, Janice Marie and Mary Jane, were delivered at the Sanitarium on Truman Road. Margaret's mother and her favorite aunt, Mary Salisbury Bostian, attended Stephens College, Columbia, MO.
Margaret's half sister, Mary Lou Tudor, lived with Margaret and Ed from the of four until 13, when she moved to California with her aunt, Jesse, who raised her to adulthood. Margaret worked at the Montgomery Ward Store on St. John Blvd. and Russell Stover's Candy Shop on 63rd Street, Brookside. Margaret was a loyal and dedicated Harzfeld's employee for eight years.
She was also a cheerful employee at the Raytown Clinic for 10 years, from where she retired. Margaret has been a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution since 1950 and the Jackson County Historical Society. She and Ed have been dedicated and faithful members of the Blue Ridge Boulevard Christian Church since 1947, where she was a devout member of the Priscilla Group and the YOMACLS Class. Margaret served as a Jackson County Election Judge during national elections for 30 years. She volunteered at the Sanitarium Recovery Room for 10 years.
She was active in the PTA at the Oldham Elementary School when her four daughters were students. She and Ed spent quality time in Miami and Hollywood, FL, in 1953, visiting Uncle Kenneth and Aunt Mary Bostian at the Seacrest and Seaview Apartments. She and Ed were active with the Promenaders Square Dance Group in the 1950s. She helped raise $20,000 in 1980 for the Raytown High School Band, where 'her grandsons, Jesse Edward Brizendine, was a student. Margaret and Ed traveled to Europe in 1984 to visit their daughter, Joyce, and her son, Thaddeus Samuel, in Bremerhaven, Germany.
She and Ed toured Paris and enjoyed the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre Museum and the Notre Dame Cathedral. They also traveled through London, visiting many local tourist attractions. Margaret enjoyed gaming trips to Las Vegas with Ed, where she enjoyed playing the slot machines. Margaret loved animals throughout her life and kept numerous cats and dogs at her home. Margaret enjoyed a full, long quality life with Edward and their children.
She was a willing, happy worker and pleasant to be with. She brought much joy to her family and friends and all who knew and loved her will sadly miss her lighthearted presence. Daughters, Judith Diane Sims, who transitioned in October 1980, 'and Mary Jane Brizendine, who transitioned in May 2000, precede Margaret. Her husband of 65 years, Edward Garrett Gillespie of the home, and daughters, Janice McClintock and son-in-law, Ronald A. McClintock, Albuquerque, Joyce Gillespie, Independence, and half sister, Mary Lou Tudor-Waterhouse, Naples, FL, survive Margaret.
Her grandchildren are Susan Obenshein, San Diego, Mark West, Rapid City, SD, Stacey West Benjamin, Searsmont, ME, Jesse Brizendine and Jamie Brizendine, Independence, Kristin Foster, Albuquerque, Matthew McClintock, Los Angeles, CA, and Lt. Thaddeus Samuel Withers, Honolulu; and 14 great-grandchildren. (Arrangements: D.W.
