What is odor control? ›

Odor control technology can reduce lingering odors through innovative technologies in multiple ways reducing unwanted and unpleasant odors. There are 3 different ways to control odors on textiles, odor capture technologies, antimicrobial technologies or an odor capture and antimicrobial technology.

Successful removal agents include potassium permanganate, sodium hypochlorite, chlorine dioxide, ozone and dichromate. In order to provide intimate contact between scrubbing liquid and odour producing gas, packed bed scrubbers are employed.

Some of the best odor eliminators are coffee grounds, tea, vinegar, oats, and baking soda. Leaving a bowl of any of these odor absorbers out in a room that's due for a little freshening up will help clear out the less-than-pleasant smells from the air.

"Baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) is an alkaline substance, and when it comes into contact with acidic odors, it reacts to neutralize them. This chemical reaction between the baking soda and the acid neutralizes or produces a less odorous compound.

The acetic acid in vinegar neutralizes alkaline odors, which means it can help get rid of cooking smells cheaply and easily. Some people make a diluted solution of vinegar and keep it in a spray bottle to mist around the room. This covers a lot of area at once for a quicker fix.

As an odor eliminator, white vinegar can be used in the laundry to remove buildup that traps odor-causing bacteria in fabrics, and it can be poured into small bowls and set out to eliminate airborne odors.

Baking Soda, Peroxide, & Dish Soap

In a spray bottle, mix 8 ounces of peroxide, three tablespoons of baking soda, and a few drops of dish soap. Spray this homemade odor eliminator mixture onto the affected area and allow it to penetrate for up to 20 minutes.

If you're concerned about sweating and body odor, the solution may be simple: an antiperspirant or deodorant. Antiperspirant. Antiperspirants contain aluminium-based compounds that temporarily block sweat pores, thereby reducing the amount of sweat that reaches your skin.

Keep Your Clothes Clean

Change clothes often when you're sweating heavily. Fresh clothes help keep body odor down. Be sure to change your socks as well, especially if you tend to have foot odor. Use deodorant powders in your shoes, replace insoles often, and go barefoot when possible.
