What makes me happy: Pasta. Loads of it.
What makes me and my electricity bill not-so-happy: Turning on the oven in the summertime.
My electricity bill last month was so high, I wept. So, for the rest of the summer, we’re going to conserve as much as possible, limiting oven use, turning on the television less (goodbye Mythbusters!), spend more time in the pool instead of indoors under air conditioning and unplug our 6 computers, 5 monitors, 3 printers and the scanner. No more blogging. HA! just kidding.
If I stopped blogging, I think I’d have an emotional breakdown. And it wouldn’t be pretty. It would require sympathy in form of a cake. Which needs to be baked.
Kate of the very beautiful blog, Framed, is sharing her recipe that saves me from turning on the oven, her No-Bake Summertime Lasagne Recipe on Steamy Kitchen on TLC.
p.s. if you happen to have Sirius, I’ll be on the Martha Stewart Radio Show around 10:30am during Whole Living, talking about the SmartFarm that we’re building!

Made this last night and it was good, I used whole wheat bowtie since I had that in the pantry and a layer of turkey meat. Quick, fresh and easy to modify

I love that this recipe is such a light summer take on what is often a fall and winter recipe. I can also imagine the technique could be applied to all sorts of different combinations of veggies available at the farmers markets this summer – what fun!

Yum, what a pretty presentation! I love the idea of layering ingredients with lasagna, rather than tossing them with pasta. So gorgeous.
