One of the best snacks that can be placed on the table for parties, game-day or get-togethers is this sweet and salty combination. The issue is that it can become very addicting. Once you start the small handfuls, it is near impossible to stop. Is it because of the pralines? Is it the seasoned cereal bits? This snack mix is better than the old fashioned

Chex mix from past generations. Some of us do remember that being made every time guests came to the house.
I remember one time school was on break and my brother was hungry. He got himself a bowl of cereal, it was Chex. That was the day he discovered a healthier cereal was really good. However, it was also the day I thought Mom was going to nail him! He had eaten the Chex that she was using that night for a Tupperware party she was having. Mom, being as smart as she was, made a couple of simple changes.
Since she did not have the other box of cereal she needed, substituted by putting in pretzels and nuts. Then she made this sweet syrup that she poured over and stirred. For us, that was the beginning of the end. We discovered a sweet and salty snack, quite similar to Crunchy Praline Snacks. When I came across this recipe, I had to call Mom and speak with her. Of course, I made this the way my Mom would.
Frequently Asked Questions:
Can I substitute different cereals?
The Chex and Crispix are pretty much the same. You could swap them out. Obviously there are many varieties of cereal that could be placed in here instead.
Does this have to be Pecans?
I am not sure which nut can substitute for the flavor of a pecan. If you find one that works, please let me know.
Should I use light or dark brown sugar?
I have always used light brown sugar. I imagine that using dark brown may give the Praline crunch more of a savory flavor.
Can I add seasonings or spices?
This is one of those recipes that you should make your own.I have had this with cinnamon added, and also with garlic salt added. Both were very good. I have also made the snacks both those ways. We personally prefer the way it is listed in the recipe.
