America's best hot springs resorts - and No. 1 is on the East Coast (2024)

A group of hot springs resorts in the U.S. are competing for the title of bestthermal resort in the country - and an East Coast property is winning.

USAToday is currently running its 10Best Readers' Choice awards wherein every week,a list of nearly 20 businesses in certain categories vie for votes as the "best of" their category over 28 days of polling.

At the end of the 28 days, the business with the most votes is named the best on the outlet's website.

According to the current leaderboard, some of the top resorts are in Colorado but the most loved is in East Coast's Virginia.

Here are the most loved resorts, as of now, in the US:

1. Warm Springs Pools at The Omni Homestead Resort, Virginia

Located a little more than five miles from the resort, the WarmSprings Pools at the Omni Homestead Resort boasts two separate bathhouses for men and women as well as a Native American history.

According to its website, local legends say that Native Americans journeying through the valley discovered these magnificent crystal springs hundreds of years ago, which archaeological evidence confirmed, with humans occupying the lands for at least 9,000 years.

The original octagonal stone basin that held the water for bathing was built in 1761, establishing it as the first spa structure in America. Originally known as the Warm Springs Bath or the Great Bath, it was not covered by a bathhouse until the mid-1820s, at which point it was covered by a new octagonal frame building.

The Ladies’ Bathhouse, was built in the mid-1870s. The 22-sided central portion stands on a circular stone wall that encloses the spring and pool. The top plate carries a faceted roof where common rafters rise to support a central frame surrounding an oculus.

Tickets are available on the hour starting at $30 per person per 50-minute soak.

While a three-hour access to 19 different pools costs about $50, an all-day soak costs about $150 and gives guests access to 32 pools for unlimited time as well as other amenities.

3.The Spa at Séc-he at Palm Springs, California

This California spa isowned by the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians and has 22 private indoor mineral baths, where day spa guests can fully relax and also soak nude if they choose.

Apart from this, a 17,000-square-foot pool deck area featuring a main outdoor pool with waterfall and smaller zero-entry mineral pool, where guests can sample water yoga, is also available at the property.

For the more adventurous, the resort also boasts twisty waterslides for older children, a splash pad, mini waterslides and - for the smaller guest - a zero-depth shallow pool.

The Californian resort is known for its open-air hillside hot tubs that can be rented by the hour for a few people.

The Oasis Waterfall Lagoon is available to book or those visiting with 20 or more people at the resort.

Along with this, each room and suite has its own balcony or patio hot tub filled with natural mineral water.
